Colorado woman pleads guilty to forging her dead mother's name on election ballot

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - A woman pleaded guilty to forgery and voting twice in an election in El Paso County court on Tuesday. 

Sarilu Sosa-Sanchez, 59, forged her deceased mother's signature on a November 13 ballot (class 5 felony) and also voted on her own ballot (misdemeanor).

As part of her sentencing, Sanchez will provide 60 hours of community service, pay all restitution and court fees, and will assist the Clerk and Recorder’s Office in educating El Paso County citizens about the consequences of voter fraud.
