EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says surveillance cameras at the Widefield Community Center captured video of a man committing a lewd act.
The video shows that at 1:43 a.m. February 10, the man walked into the courtyard of the community center, stripped naked and walked around fondling himself.
The man walked around for about 15 minutes before getting dressed and leaving. He was last seen walking east toward Widick Street.
Deputies said the man first committed the lewd act overnight on Halloween in front of a camera at another area of the center.
"I've probably seen something like that a handful of times in my 10-year career," said Rachel Lamb, one of two deputies investigating the incidents. "It was shocking."
Although deputies said they and Widefield School District 3 have known of the man's behavior since last Nov. 1, many parents said they hadn't heard about it and are concerned.
"My grandson attends preschool here," said Patricia Hunnell. "There's a library, a day care and kids here. I hate there are people like (the man) in this world. It's no consolation that he was here in the middle of the night. There are people out at night, too."
Asia Gallo, who has a daughter in District 3, also was distressed about the situation.
"I'll be having a conversation with her tonight," Gallo said. "It'll be to remind her what to look for and how to act when people are doing things they shouldn't. I wish I didn't need to have that talk with her. It's hard to come up with the right words."
The man is 50 to 65 years old, with medium length gray hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a red bandana around his head, an orange or red hoodie with "Arizona" written in white letters on the front, a gray or green long-sleeved undershirt, two pairs of pants, black shorts and black shoes.
Deputies have increased day and night patrols around the community center.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call law enforcement.
