El Paso County Sheriff's Office warning public of jury duty scam

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - If you get a call from someone claiming you've missed jury duty, it is a scam.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, a person will call using the name of someone from the Sheriff's Office and claim that the victim has missed jury duty and has a warrant out for their arrest.

The scammer will also tell the victim to follow specific instructions to clear up the warrant, including payments.

In some cases, the scammer will even try to coax victims into going to a store to obtain green dot cards.

The Sheriff's Office wants to remind people that it would never call or send texts to people regarding active warrants or payments.
