GAZETTE: Prosecutors for Maketa case ask to push back trial

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - Prosecutors for the former El Paso County Sheriff case have asked the judge to delay the trial because it will be impossible for them to be ready, the Gazette is reporting.

They filed the eleventh-hour delay request on Thursday, leading up to the hearing which is set for 10 a.m. on Friday.

The case was scheduled for May 31.

Maketa pleaded not guilty to nine counts of alleging corruption in office back in December.

Maketa's co-defendants: former Undersheriff Paula Presley and former Commander John San Agustin have separate trials set for later this year.
