EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - A teacher at Prairie Middle School was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and is being accused of sexually assaulting multiple people.
Brian C. Vasquez is a social studies teacher at the middle school and is now facing three counts of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust, and five counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
As of Wednesday, he was placed on administrative leave from the school.
The Aurora Police Department confirmed at a news conference on Tuesday night that the victims were students at the school.
A bond of $200,000 has been set for Vasquez.
He previously student-taught in Widefield School District from August 2006 to December 2006 and was a substitute teacher in the spring of 2007. He was hired at Mesa Ridge High School as a social studies teacher from October 2007-June 2009.
It is also being reported that Vasquez held a position at the Vasquez San Luis Valley Detention Center, according to our partners at Denver7.
