One in custody after standoff ends

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A standoff situation on the south side of Colorado Springs ended quickly.

It began around 7:45 Friday morning in the 1900 block of Carmel Drive, near the intersection of Monteray Road and South Circle Drive.

One man is in custody, and was acting in a suicidal manner, according to police. He was not armed.

The situation caused 4 nearby schools to go into lock out. The lock outs have been lifted.

An investigation continues.


Colorado Springs police are responding to a standoff situation at a home in the 1900 block of Carmel Drive on the south side of the city.

Monterey Elementary School is currently on lockout because of the situation.
