Small stove fire leads to pot bust, arrest of 2 in Monument

MONUMENT, Colo. - A small stove fire at a home in Monument ended with the residents being arrested for an unlicensed marijuana grow. 

Wei Lin and Fang Qin Liu were taken into custody after they could not provide the proper licensing for their 153 marijuana plants and 289 clones growing inside their home off Coyote Valley Court as well as the equipment used for the grow. 


Monument police raided the home at 4:30 p.m. on June 29 after getting a tip from the Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Department. 

Firefighters were called to the home on June 21 to deal with a small fire caused by food on the stove. During their time there, they noticed a lot of plants scattered throughout several rooms. 

The plants and clones were seized by police. 

Wei Lin faces charges of Offenses Relating to Marijuana. Fang Qin Liu faces a charge of Accessory to Crime.
