Springs police investigate two carjackings overnight

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to two reported carjackings on the city's east side Wednesday night. 

The first incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of N. Academy Boulevard. The victim told police that two men beat him in a parking lot while a third man stole his car. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the 5000 block of El Camino Drive.

The second carjacking happened in the 4300 block of S. Carefree Circle. In this case, a man got out of a parked SUV, flashed a weapon and stole another man's car. Police say a passenger was still in the stolen car as it drove away, but she was able to escape unhurt.

No specific suspect descriptions are available.
