Colorado Springs standoff ends, investigation continues

Colorado Springs standoff ends,...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A standoff in the 4200 block of Apollo Village Circle ended peacefully on Monday after officers responded to shots fired in the area.

A gun was fired following an argument between two men, 21-year-old Jauqua Johnson and another who has not been identified, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

After firing the gun, Johnson ran into a nearby apartment.  Officers surrounded the area at around noon and began negotiations to get him out.

A woman was seen leaving that apartment. Johnson, however, was not inside, and police believe he snuck out right when officers arrived.

The other man involved in the shooting was not injured.

Some nearby apartments had to be evacuated as a precaution while officers had the area contained.
