EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - Five people who are considered to be the "big fish" in the murder investigation of two El Paso County teens were in court on Monday.
Alexandra Romero, Joseph Rodrigues, Gustavo Marquez, Marco Garcia-Bravo and Diego Chacon all face murder charges in connection to the death of Natalie Partida and Derek Greer.
According to our reporter Kasey Kershner, it was an emotional scene in the courtroom, because the families of the two teens that were killed were there and saw the five murder suspects for the first time.
Each of them was arrested within a few weeks of when the teens' bodies were found back in March.
Monday was a motions hearing for the five suspects. The judge announced that he would be unsealing the arrest affidavits within 72 hours.
Their preliminary hearings are set for October.
While there is still a long road ahead for the five listed above, three of the 10 have been in court and have taken a plea deal.
Angelica Prado was also in court on Monday. She pleaded guilty to kidnapping, drug charges, and eluding police. She will serve four years in prison.
Exactly a week ago, Carlos Meza also accepted a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to a possession of a weapon charge and will be put on two years of supervised probation. Meza was originally facing three years in prison.
On July 17, Breanna Eloise Dahlberg pleaded guilty to false imprisonment.
The following two suspects are facing smaller charges.
