PUEBLO, Colo. - The family of a missing Denver woman last seen in Pueblo is pleading for help finding her.
Kelsie Schelling, 22, was last seen Feb. 4. The heartbreak was evident on the faces of her family members as they gathered for a press conference in Pueblo Friday.
"Kelsie is absolutely a faith-filled person, a big heart and an electric smile," said Kelsie's brother, Cody Schelling. "She's very close with family and friends and definitely wouldn't go this long without talking to somebody."
Kelsie's boyfriend, Donthe Lucas, lives in Pueblo, but police will not reveal what he's told them about when he last saw Kelsie. Since Kelsie has gone missing, Lucas has been arrested on suspicion of identity theft and released on bond. A judge has sealed his arrest affidavit, along with other key information in the case like phone records and surveillance video.
Police said Kelsie drove her black 2011 Chevrolet Cruz to the Walmart on Northern Avenue in Pueblo on Feb. 4. Surveillance video shows the car was parked on the south end of the parking lot the next day around noon and left there until Feb. 6 when an "unidentified male" picked up the car and drove away.
The next day the car showed up at St. Mary Corwin Hospital and was abandoned. Police found the car one week later.
"We've been in contact with the hospital, but as you know HIPPA laws are very restrictive, so we have to pursue that avenue," said the lead detective on the case, Neal Robinson with Pueblo police.
Robinson refused to comment on many questions asked at Friday's press conference, including a claim that Kelsie is pregnant.
Kelsie is one of three missing Colorado woman who have an online modeling profile. Her family has said on Facebook that they don't think that played a role in her disappearance. Robinson said police are aware of the profile.
"That avenue is being investigated," he said.
Kelsie's family opted not to take any questions Friday.
"Keslie's always quick to lend a helping hand and we're asking everyone to give a lending hand to her as well," said Colby.
If you have any information about Kelsie, call Pueblo Police at 719-553-2502 or Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.
