34-yr-old arrested in Fremont County officer-involved shooting

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. - A 34-year-old has been arrested following a suspected arson and an officer-involved shooting in Fremont County. 

Robert Lee Fay, 34, of Montrose is being held on a $75,000 cash only bond at the Fremont County Jail on the following charges: 

  • First Degree Arson
  • Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft 
  • 2nd Degree  Assault on a Peace Officer 
  • Menacing 
  • Reckless Endangerment

Fay is accused of initiating a pursuit and shooting with Fremont County Sheriff's Office deputies after he was a found in a stolen truck in the area of Highway 50, just west of Canon City. 

That truck is connected with an RV fire that occurred on Sunday night in the 16000 block of Highway 50 in Coaldale. 

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
