"Good Samaritan" act turns into attempted carjacking in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS - What started out as helping a person in need quickly took a turn for the worst.

Colorado Springs police are searching for three men who allegedly tried to steal a person's car after it stalled at a Colorado Springs intersection.

On May 13, 2017, at around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to E. Cheyenne Boulevard and Highway 115 to investigate an attempted carjacking.

The owner of the vehicle told officers that when it stalled, three men walked up offering to help them push it out of the intersection.

As the owner walked away to ask for more help, the other passengers in the vehicle say the men "became very aggressive and stated that they owned the car."

When one of the passengers started to call 911, the three ran westbound on E. Cheyenne Boulevard.

Anyone with information on these three suspects is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
