Half a million dollars worth of marijuana found in truck after traffic stop

PROWERS COUNTY, Colo. - The Prowers County Sheriff's Office says a traffic stop lead to the discovery of 180 pounds of marijuana Thursday.

The stop happened on Highway 287 south of Lamar.

The sheriff's office says the driver of the semi truck that was pulled over gave deputies consent to search the truck. It says eleven bundles of marijuana were found inside. The truck was also hauling onions. 

The street value is the marijuana is estimated at $550,000. 

The driver was written a warning for the traffic infraction. The investigation into the marijuana is ongoing.
