COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police have pieced together what happened the night Daniel Garcia, 28, was shot and killed inside his mother's car.
Carlos Ford, 30, is charged with First Degree Murder.
According to documents, police connected Ford to the gun that killed Garcia in April, even though the gun was owned by Garcia. Police believe the pair were working together to sell cocaine and both were Crip gang members.
Ford was identified by someone the next day who said he pointed the gun at them while on the road.
Garcia was found dead at the Whispering Pines Apartments near Fountain Boulevard and Chelton Road. Arrest documents show Garcia, Ford and another man were party-hopping that night. Garcia's girlfriend told police he left their bedroom with the gun around 2:30 a.m. Several hours later Garcia was found dead in the parking lot. Arrest documents did not spell out a motive for the city's 9th homicide of 2012.
Ford was already in jail facing charges on the first-degree-murder in the shooting death of a man outside the Sin City Disciples motorcycle club, officials said. Virgil Means was killed in March when as he was leaving a party at the club.
