Juveniles detained could be connected to several burglaries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two teens detained by CSPD could be connected to crime spree across Colorado Springs.

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the Crest View Apartments around 8:00 this morning.

When police arrived they found a gold Chrysler Sebring with four males inside.

The car was later determined to be stolen.

When the driver saw police he started to flee, but lost control of the car and hit a tree.

The driver and one of the passengers escaped on foot.

Police were able to capture and detain the two other passengers, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old.

Officers also found multiple handguns inside the car.

The two teens were eventually released to their guardians pending further investigation and charges.

Police have initially determined that all four suspects may be linked to several burglaries and motor vehicle thefts in Northern Colorado Springs.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
