La Junta woman accused of murdering her ex-husband

LA JUNTA, Colo. - The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says a La Junta woman is suspected of murdering her ex-husband.

Melissa Kirkpatrick, 43, was arrested in Walsenburg on Monday. She is being held on $1 million bond.

The CBI says her ex-husband, Timothy Kirkpatrick, was found dead at the La Junta home he shared with his ex-wife back on September 16.

The pair lived in the 2300 block of Carson Avenue in La Junta.

La Junta Police, the Otero County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the 16th Judicial District Attorney's Office were all involved in the investigation.

The CBI did not say how Timothy Kirkpatrick was killed.
