Soldier accused of having sex with girl, 14, is military police officer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says that a Florence man is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

James Anthony Walker, 25, is a military police officer and is assigned to the 759th Military Police Battalion at Fort Carson. He was arrested by agents of the Army Criminal Investigation Division at the Mountain Post. 

The sheriff's office says it began investigating Walker in September 2016 after receiving a report that Walker had sexted with the girl when she was 13 before the relationship escalated.

Walker was arrested on January 27. He faces a charge of sexual assault on a child under the age of 15. He is being held without bond at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center in Colorado Springs. 

Walker has been in the military for seven years and six months. During that time, he has received several awards including the following:

  • Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
  • Army Service Ribbon

Walker is originally from Fresno, California.
