Man gets violent when COS restaurant refuses his fake money

COLORADO SPRINGS - A man became extremely violent on Saturday morning after employees at a Colorado Springs restaurant denied to take his counterfeit money.

At around 6:30 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department got a call of an attempted robbery at a business located in the 1700 block of East Platte Avenue.

Employees told officers that a man, later identified as Elston Franklin, had come in and ordered a lot of food and then tried to pay with fake money. When the employee at the register told Franklin they wouldn't take his money, Franklin began pushing on the cash registers and threatening to kill people.

Franklin left the restaurant before police got there and was found a few blocks away. When officers tried to speak to him, he tried to fight them. Police eventually had to taze Franklin so that they could arrest him.
