Man steals car with children inside

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police are investigating after they said a man stole a car with two kids inside. 

The car was left running at Pikes Peak and Cascade with a 4-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy inside.

The owner of the car was speaking with a homeless person as a ministry outreach with her church when a man jumped inside the car at about 2:05 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said the man drove about two blocks to the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Sierra Madre Street when he parked the car and ran away.

A police officer from Pikes Peak Community College attempted to chase the man, but he was able to get away.

Officials said the children were not hurt.

The man was described as as a white man, in his 20s, tall and thin, wearing a black and white checkered hooded sweatshirt and jeans. If you have any information, call police at 444-7000.
