CANON CITY, Colo. - It was one year ago when former Florence resident Caleb Medley was shot during the Aurora theater movie massacre while attending a movie with his wife Katie.
He nearly died after being struck in the eye by a bullet as armed gunman James Holmes allegedly opened fire on the crowd. Medley lost an eye and underwent multiple surgeries before finally coming home in January.
The Medleys along with baby boy Hugo, born just four days after the shooting, have returned to Fremont County and now reside in Canon City.
"Caleb is continuing to do rehab at home and in Colorado Springs and continues to improve. It is not happening as fast as people think it should be, but he is improving," Katie Medley said.
