Authorities confirm man killed in officer-involved shooting robbed Rye bank

PUEBLO, Colo. - Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Pueblo is also the person responsible for robbing a bank in Rye. 

Dennis Flowers was a suspect in the robbery at the Ent Credit Union in Rye on Wednesday, August 16. 

Tips about his whereabouts eventually led two Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies to a home in the 2900 block of Apple Wood Drive in Colorado City on Monday night. 

When the deputies were searching the home, they were confronted by Flowers. He was armed, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The two deputies involved were not injured. Their names are not being released at this time. They have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident team is continuing to investigate. The Pueblo Police Department is leading the investigation aided by members of the 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Colorado State Patrol and the CBI.
