Deputies identified in officer-involved shooting in Pueblo Co.

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - The names of the deputies involved in Monday night's officer-involved shooting in Colorado City have been identified. 

Detective Chuck Roldan and Deputy Charles McWhorter fatally shot the man they believed robbed a bank in Rye, Colo. on August 16.  

The two deputies found Dennis Flowers in a home on Applewood Drive.


Another resident there let the deputies inside. According to reports by the Pueblo Police Department, Flowers was found armed, and he fired at deputies. 

Neither deputy was injured in the shooting.

Roldan is a 20-year veteran of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the investigative unit. McWhorter has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 3½ years and is currently a patrol deputy.

The 10th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Team, led by the Pueblo Police Department, continues to investigate the incident.
