PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and the Pueblo Police Department are searching for an attempted arson suspect.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, a Pueblo County employee reported seeing something smoldering near a 2005 Saab parked on Court Street, just outside the west doors of the courthouse.
When the employee got closer to the car, he told deputies he saw a smoldering rag hanging out of the gas tank.
The employee said he pulled the rag out of the vehicle and put out the fire.
A second witness told investigators that he saw a suspicious man walking near the west doors of the courthouse at around 4:25 p.m. and that the man stuck some type of rag in the gas tank of the Saab and walked away.
The owner of the vehicle was at a business across the street. According to the Sheriff's Office, her vehicle had around $300 worth of damage to it.
The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build. He was wearing a dark shirt with rolled up blue jeans and a red and black bandana.
