Suspect in Pueblo Co. carjacking identified

Carjacking at Pueblo County rest stop

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who is suspected in a carjacking at the Pinon Rest Area. 

Juan Carlos Villalobos Macias, 22, of Aurora, was arrested near Las Vegas, New Mexico about three hours after the crime happened.

The carjacking of a 2010 Toyota RAV4 took place at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the rest area near mile marker 112, off Interstate 25.

A woman was sitting in the passenger seat of the RAV4 when an armed man broke the driver's side window and got in. The woman safely escaped. 

The suspect drove off southbound on Interstate 25. 

Hours later, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office discovered that the stolen vehicle was found in Las Vegas, N.M., and one man had been arrested. 

This is still an ongoing investigation.
