Two arrested at home in Pueblo West face drug charges

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. - The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says it went to a home in Pueblo West Friday to arrest one man, but ended up leaving with two men in custody.

Detectives went to the home on McCormick Avenue to arrest Joshua Chivira, 34. Chivira had a warrant for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Turns out Chivira wasn't in the house by himself. Zachery Scanlon, 30, was also there. He was arrested after detectives determined that he had an unrelated warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

The sheriff's office says that the investigation into Chivira began with a traffic stop on February 19. During the traffic stop, the deputy's K9 partner indicated there were drugs in the car. Deputies obtained a warrant to search the vehicle. The sheriff's office says heroin, meth, suboxone, oxycodone pills and marijuana were found.

An arrest warrant was issued for Chivira on March 8, but detectives didn't find out where he was until Friday.
