Springs woman arrested for human trafficking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado State Patrol says a woman from Colorado Springs was arrested for human trafficking following a 7 month investigation.

Sona An Blair, 54, was arrested on Thursday, December 12, 2013. She was booked into the El Paso County Jail and is facing the following list of charges:

  • 18-3-501(1)(a) Trafficking in Adults (F3)
  • 18-7-206 Pimping (F3)
  • 18-5-309 Money Laundering (F3)
  • 18-7-203(1)(b) Pandering (M3)

"I'm very proud of the work that troopers and fellow law enforcement officers have invested in this case," said Colonel Scott Hernandez, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol.  "These crimes deal with a dark underworld of deceit and deception that ultimately can cost people their lives."

"Human trafficking is modern-day slavery," said Kumar C. Kibble, special agent in charge of HSI Denver.  "HSI actively works with our law enforcement partners to identify and pursue prosecution of human traffickers to the fullest extent of the law."

The Colorado State Patrol says that the Colorado Springs Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security and the Fountain Police Department assisted with the investigation.
