Student tased by police after injuring officer at football game

Investigation continues in CSPD...

Colorado Springs, Colo. -

A Palmer High School student is facing charges after an incident involving Colorado Springs Police at a district football game.

It happened last night at Garry Barry Stadium.

Earlier in the day, police say the student had caused a disturbance and subsequent lockdown at Palmer.

Due to that incident, officers and school administrators asked the boy to leave the football game.

According to police, the boy refused to leave and became verbally abusive and belligerent towards officers and school staff.

When officers tried to escort the boy out of the stadium, he resisted, and caused an officer to fall on the bleachers and injure his back.

Finally, a taser was used to allow officers to take the boy into custody. He was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest.

There are also pending criminal charges from the incident at the school earlier in the day.

The officer was treated at a local hospital and is expected to be okay. However, he was unable to return to duty.
