Suspect in triple shooting identified

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police have arrested a 17-year-old who is accused of shooting three people on University Drive.

Miguel Alvarado-Menchaca turned himself in at the Colorado Springs Police Operations Center at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

When officers arrived to the zero block of University Drive, they found three people shot. All of them were taken to the hospital. Police said all of the victims are expected to survive.

Phillip Casey feels uneasy living in his neighborhood after the shooting.

"It makes me feel uncomfortable with my kids outside, in front of the house, or even the sidewalk. It just doesn't feel right with them outside," he said.

Stan Bixlar lives close to where the shooting happened.

He said he doesn't answer his door at night.

"In the evening, we prefer not to come to the door if someone is knocking or ringing only because you don't know who is on the other side," he said.

Police say there have been five shootings in Colorado Springs in the last two months - all within a 3 mile radius of each other.
