Vandalism suspected at Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora

Police are investigating the incident

AURORA, Colo. - A glass panel was shattered at the Aurora Colorado Freedom Memorial over the weekend.

Police are investigating the incident as a possible case of vandalism.

The shattered panel, which contained the names of Colorado service men and women killed or missing in action, was discovered by Memorial Board of Director's President Rick Crandall.

According to Crandall, he noticed the shattered panel early Monday morning when he arrived to prepare the memorial for the 4th of July.

Crandall stated that while the memorial was insured, it will most likely not be enough to replace the shattered panel, which is expected to cost about $55,000.

Crandall posted the damage to social media and advised visitors not to touch the memorial so as to avoid getting injured.
