COLORADO SPRINGS - Doherty High School will remain closed this week after two unusual fires filled the building with smoke last week.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the school twice in reference to two separate incidents.
Wood surrounding a kiln, which was left on overnight, caused the first fire.
Mop heads running in a washer caused the second fire.
Students were dismissed early Friday because of the smoky conditions.
District 11 says that the duct work needs to be thoroughly cleaned and tested. The process is expected to take at least a week.
Doherty staff will meet today to figure out how to address senior activities, the final week of school, finals, second semester grades and other end of year considerations.
