Drought leads to another fireworks-free 4th in Colorado Springs
The city of Colorado Springs has suspended all public fireworks displays indefinitely because of the high fire danger.
"The safety of our community comes first. With fire conditions in our area not improving, we all need to take extra precautions to keep our community safe from any potential fire hazards," said Interim Fire Chief Tommy Smith.
Colorado Springs isn't the only southern Colorado community putting the fireworks fun on hold because of the drought.
Earlier Monday it was announced that another display planned for June 29 at the Elbert County Fairgrounds has been cancelled.
Last week, the town of Monument announced it is canceling it's Fourth of July fireworks display as well.
