It’s been a long road for Dave McGrath to get here.  And that doesn’t include the hundreds of miles between his home in Idaho and Colorado Springs.

“I was silent for 25 years on the Gay issue.  I decided I was going to be silent no more,” McGrath said.

An Eagle Scout, father of six sons, McGrath says two of his boys are gay.  He and one of his sons are biking from their home in Idaho to lobby the Boy Scouts to overturn the policy banning openly gay members and leaders.

“I’m an Eagle.  Once an Eagle, always an Eagle, it’s my private organization too,” McGrath said.

The National Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be taking a historical vote starting May 22nd at a national meeting, deciding whether or not to change the current membership policy to allow openly gay scouts.  Gay adult leaders would still be banned.
