COS school awarded Title One Distinction

COLORADO SPRINGS - Wildflower Elementary School is being recognized as a 2016 Title One Distinguished School.

Schools can earn Title One Distinction by achieving success in one of three categories.

One category is exceptional student performance for two consecutive years, a second category is closing the achievement gap between student groups, and the last is excellence in serving special populations of students.

Wildflower is being recognized for closing the achievement gap.

"You base it on your test scores then and the test scores that you made and how close or how far you went above that last year mark. So what we did, we were able to raise those levels considerably," said Wendy Godwin with Wildflower Elementary.

Recipients of the honor are a select group, no more than 100 schools are chosen for the award each year.
