For her new music video, Selena Gomez chose to be more culturally sensitive than she was during her recent MTV Movie Awards performance.
The 20-year-old singer drew criticism after she sang her new single "Come & Get It" at the April ceremony because she wore a bindi on her forehead.
The president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, called Gomez out for her use of the spiritual symbol, saying in a statement that "as a renowned performer, she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions."
It seems Gomez noted the negative reaction, as she appears sans bindi in her music video for "Come & Get It." In a statement on May 8, Zed praised the decision.
Gomez herself, meanwhile, has been busy talking about -- who else? -- her on-again, off-again beau Justin Bieber.
Their breakup, the singer/actress tells InStyle in its June issue, was "crazy and very intense."
As for their future, Gomez sounds like she's taking it day-by-day.
"It's uncomfortable that everywhere I go, people know," she says. "I don't like that. But Justin and I never really focused on the attention. You can't help who you date. So I wouldn't swear off that or say that's what I want again. I don't know. I'm a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I'm doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he's doing very well too."
