COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Friends and family gathered at Prospect Lake Sunday for the anniversary of Stephan Wilson's death. Three years after his murder, the case remains unsolved.

Wilson's body was found in his Colorado Springs condo October 1, 2010. Police said he was shot in the head.

"It just seems surreal," his mother Leslie Smith said. "I wake up some days and it's just like 'wow. Here we go again. My son is gone.'"

Smith was one of about a dozen people at Sunday's vigil. They lit candles, sang and shared memories of Wilson.

"He had a heart of gold," his sister Michelle Wilson said. "He had an infectious smile that he would walk into a room and if it was gloomy, he would light it up."

This was the third vigil the family held - one for each year Stephan Wilson's murder goes unsolved.

"It makes it even worse, because I just feel like this person is walking around free, and my son is gone," Smith said.

Loved ones and detectives urge anyone with information to call police at 444-7000.

"We have this gaping wound that can't be closed until we have closure," Michelle Wilson said.
