Man shot during home break-in in Canon City

CANON CITY, Colo. - Canon City police are investigating a possible "Make My Day" incident where a man was shot after breaking into a home.

Cameron Locke, 33, was taken to the hospital on Sunday morning after being shot in the stomach. The injury was not life-threatening and he is expected to be okay.

Detectives believe Locke had broken into a home in the 300 block of Greenwood Avenue in Canon City when he was shot. The homeowner and a man were inside at the time of the break-in. They told officers that they had asked Locke to leave. Locke did not listen, so the man fired his pistol.

Locke is now facing charges of burglary, stalking, violation of a protection order/domestic violence, assault, trespass, and harassment.

No charges have been filed against the shooter. The District Attorney's Office is still working to determine if this incident falls under the "Make My Day" law.
