MISSING: Family reports son missing after rafting accident in Fremont Co.

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. - A family has reported their son missing after hearing a report of a rafting accident on June 28 in Fremont County.

The family of Eric Ashby, 31, of Colorado Springs, believes he may have been one of the people involved in a rafting incident on the Arkansas River near Sunshine Falls. 

They reported him missing on July 8. 

Deputies responded to the area near Fremont County Road 61 on June 28 after a caller reported seeing a raft flip, multiple people going into the river, and one person not making it to the top. 

When deputies arrived, no one was there where the accident was reported. 

Crews including, FCSO, Canon City Fire Department, Fremont Search and Rescue Swift Water Rescue team, Colorado Parks Officers and Deputies in a helicopter searched the river from the scene of the river accident downstream to the Pink House Recreation Center until dark and nothing was found.

No one else reported the incident. 

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office believes that the rafting incident and Ashy's disappearance may be connected.
