FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. - A single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a Thornton teen.
The accident happened along Fremont County Road 28 near Highway 50 at around 4 p.m.
A 48-year-old woman was driving a 1997 Nissan Altima when she failed to make a curve in the road. She lost control and traveled off the roadway and down a steep embankment. The Altima then hit a traffic control sign and a small tree, causing it to roll.
An 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs.
The other passenger involved had minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
Speed is being considered as a factor in the crash.
