Friends Upset By News Of Murdered Grandmother

21-Year-Old Arrested For Her Murder, Burning Her Body

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Even though Katheryn "Kit" Grazioli was 87, she didn?t act it. On Friday night friends got confirmation that she was killed and her body burned on the west side of Colorado Springs off Lower Gold camp Road.

?I can?t imagine any reason to go after Kit. She just loved everybody; she was kind to everyone,? said Trevor Dierdorf.

He met Kit 11 years ago at a business networking group and the two quickly became friends.

TARGET 13 spoke with Dierdorf Friday night after the arrest of Marcus Smith, 21, of Colorado Springs. Police suspect him of her killing.

?I imagine he didn?t know her and saw her as vulnerable. She was an elderly woman living alone,? said Dierdorf.

Colorado Springs Police aren?t saying how Smith and Grazioli knew each other, but sources told TARGET 13 that Smith may have broken into Grazioli?s home.

Dierdorf described Grazioli as being spry and full of enthusiasm. ?She was a big fan of technology, probably more tech savvy than most people half her age,? said Dierdorf.

Grazioloi had a Facebook, Google + and Linkedin profile. She wrote that she liked helping others, especially teens, ?be all that they can be.?

?When we talked on the phone a month ago, we talked about getting lunch in November. I didn?t follow-up and I really regret it,? said Dierdorf.

He remembers that she was still working in network marketing coaching others, not only in their business ventures, but also in their lives.

?Kit was an inspiration and (had) enthusiasm for people. I don?t know anyone else who was that loving. She?ll be missed by hundreds of people who loved her.,? Dierdorf said.
