Hiker Rescued After Fall At Snyder Quarry
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -

A hiker was badly hurt in a fall at a quarry near Manitou Springs Tuesday night.

The accident happened at around 8:00 at the Snyder Quarry, near the Cedar Heights community.

A spokesman with El Paso County Search and Rescue says the hikers were walking at the top of a cliff when one of them slipped on some loose gravel and fell about 120 feet.

Scanner traffic indicates the victim's hiking partner called 9-1-1 and used the light from a cell phone to help guide rescuers to the injured man.

The man who fell suffered multiple trauma injuries, including serious injuries to his head. He was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs by ambulance.

The injured hiker's name has not been released.
