There will be 70 families who will have a good Christmas meal and a warm feeling of hope, thanks to some caring Fountain Fort Carson High School students.
17 year old Maisie Davis was in this crowd of Santa's helpers who are also with the student council. She told me she's proud to give back to the community. Maisie's Dad is a military medic, so this feeling of helping others is in her D-N-A, "Growing up around the military, I've just learned to help others."
16 year old Tomas Brown also believes it's important to give back to his community. Tomas's Dad is a military policeman. Tomas told me others need help and he is glad he's there for them, "I've never been one to sit on the sidelines."
Jackie Meehan is with the Pikes Peak Community Action Agency. Her organization is the one that benefits from the work of these students to collect the food and money for these holiday basket donations to her organization. She told me a little bit more about the people these students are helping, "They're just regular people who are just embarrassed to ask for help. They're grateful these people make efforts to do that for them."
This holiday giving effort has been going on for a quarter of a century in Fountain.
