The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) says it thinks someone in Colorado Springs may have information about the 2009 stabbing death of a soldier in Afghanistan.
The CID is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
Sgt. Anton Phillips was stabbed to death at Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam, Afghanistan, at around 8 p.m. on December 31, 2009.
Sgt. Phillips' body was found between Pease Park and his living quarters at FOB Mehtar Lam. He was assigned to the 5th Maintenance Company, 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment, at the time of his death.
“We have reason to believe that someone in the Colorado Springs area knows something about the untimely death of this Soldier and we are not giving up, but determined to bring those responsible to justice” said CID spokesman Chris Grey. “We strongly encourage anyone with information to contact us immediately.”

In a news release, the CID says Individuals wishing to remain anonymous will be honored to the degree allowable under the law and the information will be held in the strictest confidence allowable.
