Las Animas woman, 19, killed in Bent County crash

BENT COUNTY, Colo. - A 19-year-old woman from Las Animas is dead and three others are injured after their pickup truck rolled over Thursday night in Bent County.

The Colorado State Patrol says Danielle Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on County Road 12, about two miles northeast of Las Animas. The 16-year-old driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries, and two other passengers were taken to a hospital in La Junta with moderate injuries.

CSP says the driver steered hard to the left and lost control of the truck before it rolled on its roof around 9:30 p.m. It's not clear if all of the passengers were ejected, but CSP says nobody was wearing a seat belt in the vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation, though alcohol isn't believed to be a factor.
