1 killed in crash involving pickup truck and school bus

FLORISSANT, Colo. - Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving a Ford pickup truck and a school bus.

The crash happened around 6:40 Sunday morning on Highway 24 near MM 273, about four miles east of Florissant.

Troopers say one person in the truck was killed. Seven students on the school bus were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver was not injured.

Troopers say there were 52 students on the bus at the time of the crash. They are all under the age of 17.

Troopers say the truck was traveling eastbound, and the bus was traveling westbound. They say the truck veered into the westbound lane and crashed head-on with the bus.

Highway 24 at MM 273 was closed for several hours but reopened at about 11 a.m. Sunday.
