2 detained after armed robbery at Safeway

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two people have been arrested after an armed robbery at the Safeway in the 2200 block of North Wahsatch Avenue on Thursday morning.

Colorado Springs Police spokeswoman, Barbara Miller, told our crew at the scene that the suspects walked out of the Safeway store with a cart full of food they had not paid for.  Someone from inside the store tried to stop them but one of the suspects pulled out a gun.

Police received a description of the suspect vehicle and tracked it to a home in the 900 block of Conejos Street, which is about four miles away from the Safeway store.

Officers detained one adult and one juvenile from inside the home.  A third person was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant unrelated to this crime.
