3 dead after murder, high speed chase, suicide

PEYTON, Colo. - Two women were found dead inside a home in Peyton after a reported shooting that sent deputies on a two county pursuit that ended in a crash.

Authorities said a man was seen leaving a home in the 19000 block of Oasis Avenue where a shooting had been reported around 4 p.m. Monday.

Deputies say when they entered the home, they found two women dead.

Deputies chased the man for about 50 miles from El Paso County into Lincoln County. The suspect crashed on Highway 71 in Lincoln County, and appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sheriff's deputies.

Meanwhile, investigators obtained a search warrant for the home in Peyton.  The women have not been identified and their relation to the man has not been released.

Neighbors told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that they had only seen the man in passing and were shocked to see a crime scene on their quiet street.

"It's kind of scary," said Katie Wood, a concerned neighbor and mother.  "I mean we didn't know the people that lived in that house. But across the street from our house? That's really scary. Especially with a little one."

The sheriff's office said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

The official cause of death for the women has not been released.
