4-year-old seriously hurt in crash

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. - A 4-year-old girl is seriously hurt after a driver ran a red light in Pueblo West, according to state troopers.

Officials said the accident happened at at about 8:16 Friday night.

The driver of a a Chevrolet Malibu was headed east on Highway 50 when he ran a red light at the intersection of Purcell, hitting a Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the state patrol.

The Tahoe spun, ejecting the little girl. She was transported to Children's Hospital in Denver. A woman and two other children in the Tahoe were not hurt, officials said.

A 92-year-old woman in the Malibu was also seriously hurt and transported to Parkview.

Investigators said the 52-year-old man driving the Malibu is believed to have been under the influence of prescription medication and he was taken into police custody.  The crash is still under investigation. 

The southbound lanes of Purcell were closed for approximately two hours.
