COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - It's the most sought after "Apple" since the Garden of Eden…the new iPhone 6.
"I failed online on the preorder so this is Plan B," said Eddie Kyle, first in line in front of the Apple Store in The Promenade Shops at Briargate. Kyle grabbed his spot Wednesday morning.
A few dozen Apple addicts lined up in chairs and tents waiting for Friday morning's release.
"Third year camping out on the numbers…we go every number, we skip the S-series and we always upgrade on the numbers," said David Yocubets who is waiting with his wife Stacey.
"It's kind of like a one night block party and we all have similar interests," Stacey Yocubets said.
Apple says a record breaking four million preorders, which is why another Apple fanatic, Bill Petro is sitting at home instead of the sidewalk.
"I do miss the excitement of standing in line and the bragging rights that you were the first one there," Petro said.
Petro stayed up to one in the morning last week to preorder the iPhone 6 plus.
"That's the one that's going to change the game because of the screen size, the battery capacity, the optical image stabilization," Petro said.
Petro got his first taste of Apple in 1984 when the first Mac was released. Since then he has owned most of the company's products.
"They're so well made," Petro said.
Holding the iPhone 5s, Petro will have to wait a couple of weeks until his new phone arrives. But in his "garden of gadgets" there is always room for another Apple.
The Apple store in Briargate opens early, at 8 A.M., to sell the new phones.
