Armed robbers flee after alarm sounds

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two men tried robbing a Family Dollar Store Sunday night, but they ran away after the alarm sounded.

Police say two black men, one armed with a semi-automatic handgun, entered the store on Edison Ave. as two employees were leaving after closing. The armed suspect demanded an employee open the safe. The alarm then went off and the suspects fled.

The armed suspect is described as 5'10" tall, between 140-150 pounds and is in his mid-20s. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a white bandana over his face, a black jacket and black shorts. 

The other suspect is described as 5'6" tall with a slender build in his late teens. He was wearing a purple bandana over his face, a purple baseball hat and a purple jacket.

Police are still investigating the incident.
